The technology platform of Asia-Pacific Mercury Monitoring Network opens in Taiwan

The US Environmental Protection Agency Assistant Director Jane Nishida, Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration Director Hung-Te Tsai and the National Central University (Taiwan) President Jing-Yang Jou co-host the achievement meeting of APMMN, which opened in Chungli on April 22.

The fruitful results of APMMN

On discuss at this meeting were the achievements of expand coordinated mercury monitoring capacity in the Asia-Pacific region, provide training and support to scientists in the region, and develop baseline mercury data useful to regional and global modelers.

The Taiwan EPA established the website of APMMN, which share data and technologies of Asia-Pacific mercury monitoring, and exchange information among experts. In addition, National Central University (Taiwan) has offered a pilot analyze precipitation samples in APMMN. The Taiwan EPA also invited students to join the meeting, through discussed environmental issue, students became familiar with environmental monitoring and air quality.

In APMMN, the Taiwan EPA continue to share vision for a collaborative and environmental monitoring experiences in the field of environmental protection with other countries, robust mercury monitoring network in the Asia Pacific region, and actively engaged in technical exchanges with environmental protection officials from around the world.
